NEW Down Syndrome Consultation Clinic @ Surrey Place
A multi-disciplinary clinic for children with DS, with the goal of providing support to the child’s primary care provider and ensuring the family is connected to the appropriate medical providers and resources in the community. A physician referral is needed, and patients must reside in an area with a postal code starting with “M”. Please see flyer for more details.
Easter Seals Access 2 Card Program
When an Access 2 cardholder (the individual with the permanent disability) presents their valid Access 2 Card at any participating venue partner, their support person receives free admission; the cardholder pays regular admission.
Examples of participating venues are Ciniplex, CN Tower, CNE, AGO, ROM, and more. View more information and apply for a card HERE
FUNDING SUPPORTS
Special Services at Home (SSAH)
Helps families pay for special services in or outside the family home. For example:
- Helps the child learn new skills and abilities by paying for programs (swim, gym, karate, etc.) and educational or sensory activities.
- Provides respite support to the family
Note: Long waiting list, you are encouraged to apply asap
Respite Funding
Similar to SSAH funding (above)
Disability Tax Credit
Non-refundable tax credit, requires a medical practitioner to fill out and describe the impairment
Registered Disability Savings Program (RDSP)
For individuals < 60 years of age, to help caregivers save for long-term financial security of the individual with a disability
- Canadian government will match your contribution (matching depends on your family income)
Child Disability Benefit
Tax-free benefit for families who care for a child < 18 yrs with a disability
Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD)
Monthly financial support for low- to moderate-income families to cover some of the extra costs of caring for a child (< 18 yrs) who has a severe disability

Assistive Devices Program (ADP)
Helps cover costs of customized medical equipment, not income-based
Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity
Financial support for children < 18 years old, household income must be < $65,000
- Funds for therapies, hospital treatment expenses, respite, household costs, medicines/formula, medical supplies
Dayforce Cares
Grant to help cover costs of basic necessities and support well-being for families requiring financial assistance
- For basic essentials – clothing, footwear, food, medical devices, therapies, personal development/recreation, counselling services, housekeeping support
President’s Choice Children’s Charity
Financial assistance to aid with the purchase of mobility equipment, wheelchair accessible modifications, physical therapy, etc
- Gross family income must be < $70,000
Easter Seals Equipment Funding
May include support for the following:
- Mobility Equipment, Communication Devices, Orthotics, Accessibility Equipment, Bathing Toileting Equipment
