Let's Celebrate, in recognition of World Down Syndrome Day
WDSD is marked each year on March 21. The 21st day of the 3rd month signifies the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome. This year WDSD is on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

DSAT will be hosting this special event where we celebrate abilities, love, and joy that individuals with Down syndrome bring into our lives. Embracing uniqueness, fostering inclusion, and spreading kindness, let’s stand together in support. #DSATWDSD2026

In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st, DSAT will be joining schools and organizations around the world to mark this special day.
On this day, people with Down syndrome and those who live and work with them throughout the world organize and participate in activities and events to raise public awareness and create a single global voice for advocating for the rights, inclusion and well-being of people with Down syndrome. The date is special because 3-21 represents Trisomy 21, the medical term for Down syndrome, which is the third replication of the 21st chromosome.

How to enter/participate:
We encourage students to wear mismatched socks or draw pictures of mismatched socks to stir up conversation and remind people that things that are different are still beautiful and wonderful!
1. Print our fact sheet with information on Down syndrome
2. Wear your wildest mismatched socks.
3. For all Toronto-based schools looking to enter, please use the hashtag #DSATWDSD2026 to be entered in this contest. Take a photo and share it on social media using #DSATWDSD2026
SHARE WITH FAMILIES, FRIENDS & COLLEAGUES THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA #DSATWDSD2026
Entries must be submitted before 12:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2026.
Submissions are accepted from schools, colleges, and universities within Toronto.
Only one entry per class.
3 winning classes will be selected at random.
Winners will be contacted after March 27, 2026.
The winners will have an opportunity to choose a $75 gift card to use towards a safe celebration with their class or you can choose to win a free pizza party for your class!
